Hard work, by Natasha Gipt

The following poem was written as part of a poetry-writing event at Spurgeons Academy, to mark World Poetry Day

Waking up before the cock crows

Even the clock hasn’t started to tick tock

Ready to be mocked but not ready to talk

Every hand has a rewarding wand

Already in the examination room to do my test

Prepared for the worst, hoping for the best

Walking home with a front chest

Did not come to school to give a waste

Every hand has a rewarding wand
