Following floods earlier this year that ripped through parts of Kenya, IDAK was able to give an emergency response to some affected families in Mathare slums, Nairobi, Kenya. This response targeted children whose learning materials were either washed away by the floods or ravaged down by the bulldozers that later came in to demolish the worst affected areas (including informal homes in those areas). We gave them books, pens, pencils, ruler, utensils (cups and plates) as well as food basket containing rice, beans, green grams, and cooking flour.
We directly reached 80 school going children and 20 adults (ladies) who were majority lactating mothers and were victims of demolitions. They all received food baskets and cash transfers for personal use. Thank you so much to CRED for your support through some emergency funding.
