People are Busy, by Linet Atieno

The following poem was written as part of a poetry-writing event at Spurgeons Academy, to mark World Poetry Day

In the morning

People are working

And are searching

Down in the plains

Sweating and shaking

People are busy in the morning.

Street children are playing in the dust

Rubbing their self in the dust, up and down

Parents struggling for them to go to school

Working very hard to provide for their needs

People are busy in the morning

Women are digging

Up they come

Swinging their hips

Carrying baskets on their heads

Ready to sell their goods People are busy in the morning
