Earlier this year, CRED Foundation asked the leadership team at Spurgeons Academy in Kibera, Kenya, if it would be possible for some of their students to help design a Thank You card that was to be produced for all regular CRED donors. The staff agreed, and the design brief was given to all the students in the School art club.
The initial plan was just to have a design for the front of the card, but the students were keen to have more scope for demonstrating their artistic talent, and so the brief was widened to include not just the card front face, but also an internal image with the theme of ‘how to be Covid safe’.
14 students entered the competition, and their work was scanned and sent across to CRED who eventually decided on two winners – one for the front cover, and one for the inner image. Choosing the two winners was incredibly hard, as the standard of the art was very high, especially given the very basic resources that the students were having to use. Each student received a personalised certificate of participation, and the group were also provided with the funding to get celebratory sodas and doughnuts for the art club session when the certificates were presented. Not surprisingly, the sodas and doughnuts led to as much delight and excitement as the certificates did!!!
