GNPDR Street kids drop-in update

The drop-in sessions for street kids continue to be run by GNPDR staff Angelique and Jeremiah. Some of the recent sessions were a bit lower in number, and this was primarily for two reasons. Some weren’t there simply because they gone to look for food, but, more positively, others weren’t there because, following the advice and encouragement of Angelique and Jeremiah, they have now returned to school and are trying to make a go of it.

For those who still attend, Jeremiah named the following achievements of the drop-in sessions, which reinforce why they need to continue:

‘There’s trust and good relationships between us and these Street kids, they trust us so much even more than their parents’

‘They can now sit and listen to what we are telling them though some of them don’t straight away put in action what we tell them.’

When asked what was one of the main challenges that Jeremiah and Angelique are facing in trying to support the young people, Jeremiah said: ‘Some children who are like 16 or 17 years old what to join technical schools and others want to go back to school but because of addiction of drugs and peer pressure we need to take them slowly’.

CRED supporters continue to provide funds to enable this valuable outreach to continue.
