Acholi – Christmas cards competition

The children from Acholi Quarters that we give support to through the Hopeful Haven programme and through tuition fees support were recently invited to take part in a Christmas card competition. The aim was for them to design a card that can then be printed up and used to send Christmas greetings to CRED donors later this year.

The number of entrants was high – about 60 in all, and the competition was split into four categories: Hopeful Haven 7yrs and under, Hopeful Haven 8yrs and over, mainstream students at primary school, and mainstream students at senior school. On a recent visit to Acholi, Helen had the challenge of choosing the winning entrants – not easy given the number of high quality designs!

But the final 4 were chosen: Kasta, Jovia, Keren-Peace, and Hope. Each of them received a maths set, and there were sweets for all of the children who took part (and possibly a few other little ones who snuck into the party). The designs will now be turned into cards for use by various. If you would like to purchase a few for your personal use then please contact Helen.
