E4All grant used by PSD-Nepal, part 3

As a result of the match-funded Big Give fundraising appeal in December 2023, CRED was able to build up an ‘Education 4 All’ pot of almost £35,000 which was distributed to partners for use in education-related programmes. This is the third of three blogs in which we hear from Bishnu Bhatta in Nepal about how PSD-Nepal used the money.

Supports: Music, Stationery and Sports:

The donation encompassed a diverse array of items, with specific quantities tailored to meet the needs of the children at the orphanage. Among these were musical instruments, including a portable Bluetooth speaker designed to deliver high-quality sound for playing educational content, music, or audiobooks, fostering a lively and engaging environment for recreational activities and learning sessions. Additionally, a range of stationery items were provided in ample quantities; a set for every student, such as school bags, geometry sets, pencils and pens, erasers, and a set consisting of one whiteboard, one box of board marker, and two dusters. Furthermore, various other essentials such as plastic book covers, calculators, stapler pins, and photocopy paper were also included to support the children’s daily educational needs.

In terms of art supplies, the donation comprised 18 sets of watercolour paints and one box of sign pens, aiming to encourage artistic expression and creativity among the children. Regarding sports equipment, generous quantities were provided to promote physical activity and team sports, including volleyballs, footballs, basketball, table tennis bats and badminton rackets, skipping ropes, and carrom boards. Hygiene Items and Nutritional Support:

The donation package also included a selection of hygiene items and nutritional support to uphold the children’s health and well-being. Among these essentials were Toothbrushes and toothpaste, meticulously chosen for their quality and intended to aid in maintaining oral hygiene, promoting dental health and protection against cavities among the children. Furthermore, bars of Lifebuoy Soap were included, serving as antibacterial soap for hand washing and personal hygiene, crucial in preventing the spread of germs and illnesses within the orphanage. To ensure cleanliness and hygiene in their clothing, bars of Dhoni Washing Soap were also provided, facilitating laundry care and maintaining clean and hygienic attire for the children. These hygiene items and nutritional support elements were thoughtfully curated to promote the overall health and hygiene standards of the children, fostering a safe and hygienic environment within the orphanage.

In addition to the hygiene items and nutritional support, groceries were generously provided to supplement the children’s dietary needs. A nutritional food supply, was thoughtfully curated and provided to ensure the children have access to a diverse and balanced diet, promoting their overall health and well-being. Moreover, a nutritious lunch, was also provided to each child, further enriching their daily nutritional intake and ensuring they receive adequate sustenance, which can be seen in the pictures below.
