The children at the GNPDR Catch Up school finally have water on tap, thanks to the generosity of some UK donors who raised enough money for a rainwater harvesting system to be set up.
Until now there has been no reliable running water at, or near the school, and staff or pupils had to go to boreholes and stand-pipes to fill jerry-cans. Sometimes these would be fairly close, but depending on availability, the distance could require car journeys instead – and of course none of this is conducive to a positive learning environment
So it is wonderful to finally see that the new water catchment system is in place, and that students and staff alike now have water on tap.
fantastic news. no more yellow jerry cans and a long walk!! great work everyone.
Thanks for everything Matt, tough way to go out.
