Christmas Day can be tough when you live on the streets, and especially if you are a child living rough. But for some young people who, for various reasons, are living on the streets of Lusaka in Zambia, Christmas this year had more fun and laughter than they were expecting, thanks to the generosity and love of the Chisomo Street Kids Project.
Chisomo is a partner of CRED and runs a drop in centre for street kids as well as temporary accommodation for young people who are in the process of being reunited with family, or fostered into new families. Some of these children find their way direct to Chisomo, others are referred there from the Zambian police (department of child protection)
This Christmas it hosted a party for 30 children that it works with, giving them a delicious meal, a safe space, and time to enjoy being young people together: everyone had a wonderful time and the whole experience was a true demonstration of the real meaning of Christmas. Massive thanks must go to Josephine, Faith and Edna who were the wonderful cooks and hosts.
