Odong innocent was once a beneficiary under Cred, receiving support to go to school in Acholi Quarters. Unfortunately, though, his mother decided to move him and his brothers back to the village, where he wasn’t able to continue with his education to the point of gaining a leavers certificate.
When his mother died, Innocent decided to move back to Acholi quarters and try and make a new start. He lived with one of the members of the Lubanga Ber co-operative, that CRED partners with for all its inputs into Acholi Quarters. Through Lubanga Ber, Innocent heard about the two bursaries available for Acholi young people, to attend the Nkuru vocational college in Mityana. Innocent applied for a bursary, and was successful, and he is now studying for a qualification in building and construction at the college. He enjoys learning the new skills, and hopes to use them to gain employment with a building firm in the future.
