Since February, 25 students—11 girls (Including Brenda, seen below) and 14 boys—have been boarding at the Stepping Stones hostel for a four-month period. They are housed in two dormitory wings, with no more than eight students per room, creating a cozy and supportive environment. The hostel, which was kitted out using CRED Donations, is equipped with 14 sturdy bunk beds, proper mattresses, and mosquito nets for every bed—an enormous upgrade from the previous setup of sleeping in classrooms. The difference is clear: students are sleeping better, staying healthier, and showing more focus and energy in their studies. Before that four young women from the vocational training program also stayed in the hostel—and without this option, they wouldn’t have been able to participate in the course at all. The hostel has truly opened doors, making education more accessible and enjoyable for everyone involved, and the atmosphere is now full of motivation, community spirit, and new possibilities.
